App settings#
Settings are a menu of entries, not one long list: you tap an item, go into its sub-screen and change the options there. Under one roof sit three groups (General, Map, Details), inside them eight entries and inside those — seventeen options. Nothing was hidden: if you set something earlier, it is still here.
How to enter Settings#
- On the bottom bar tap the Profile tab.
- In the Settings row (subtitle “Map, privacy, password change”) the menu of entries opens.
- Tap an entry — the › chevron on the right means “there are options inside”. You go back with the back button, and the open sub-screen is remembered between screen rotations.
Three groups and eight entries#
| Group | Entry | What is inside |
|---|---|---|
| General | Account & security | e-mail, role, password change, logging out |
| Appearance and language | app theme and app language | |
| Permissions | system permissions and a note about the terms of service | |
| Map | Theme | the map's look: day, night or automatically |
| Time of day | map light when the theme is automatic | |
| Visibility on the map | whether other players see you | |
| Details | About the app | app version and checking for updates |
| About the device | phone, Android and screen |
General#
The first group gathers everything to do with your account, the app's look and system consents. This is where you land when you want to change your password or check whether the app is allowed to use your location.
Map#
The second group changes how the map looks and whether you are visible to other players. The theme and the time of day have their own page, Theme and appearance — together they decide the map's light.
Details#
The third group is information about the app and the phone — reading only, no option asks for a permission. Here you can also check for and install a newer version of the app (App updates).
Account & security#
Your account's sub-screen. Four rows — three informational and one way out of the session.
E-mail#
Shows the address the account was created with. Read-only — changing the address is not available from inside the app. Visible only to someone signed in.
Role#
Your role in the game: player, mod or admin. An ordinary player changes nothing here — the role is information, not a setting. Visible only to someone signed in.
Change password#
A form with three fields: Current password, New password, Repeat new password. After the change the app logs out the sessions on other devices, so on this phone you are the one who stays signed in. The requirements for the password are described in Account and profile.
Log out#
Ends the session on this device and shows the question Log out? — an accidental tap breaks nothing. Your progress stays on the account, so after signing in you come back to the same place in your tour.
Appearance and language#
Two options that change the app's skin. The theme of the interface (bars, tiles, cards) is a different thing from the theme of the map — that one sits in the Map group and is described in Theme and appearance.
App theme#
Four choices:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Match the map | the app darkens together with the map — day, dusk and night have their own palettes |
| Light | forces a light interface, regardless of the time of day |
| Dusk | a warm half-light — for the evening, when you do not want night yet |
| Dark | forces a dark interface |
App language#
System, Polish or English. “System” follows the phone's language. Map, route and stop texts come from the server, so after a language change they refresh at the next content download.
Permissions#
A preview of the system consents Fyndi needs: location (including information on whether it is precise — an approximate one can be off by a kilometre), location services, physical activity (steps), camera and notifications. The row at the top says it in summary: “All permissions granted” or “To fix: count”. Below it there is a note about the terms of service.
System permissions#
Two buttons lead straight into the system settings: Open the app's permissions (Fyndi's consents) and Location settings (the phone's global location switch). You can also grant permissions along the way when the app asks for them — this is described in GPS and location accuracy.
Map theme#
One option that decides how the map base looks. It does not concern the app's interface.
Map theme#
Automatically (by time of day), Day or Night. “Automatically” computes the light from the Sun's position above the city, while “Day” and “Night” force the map's look. When you choose a forced setting, the Time of day option stops having an effect — details in Theme and appearance.
Time of day#
The map's light and shadows — useful when you want to see the city in the evening, even though it is noon.
Time of day on the map#
Auto (by the Sun), Day, Dusk, Night. With “Auto” the light follows the Sun's real position and changes during your walk. The choice works when Map theme stands at “Automatically”.
Visibility on the map#
The decision about whether other players see your character.
Show me to others#
A switch working on the server side:
- On — you see other players within a radius of 3 km and they see you.
- Off — you see no one and no one sees you. Your position is erased right after switching off, and other players' positions expire after 5 minutes of inactivity.
When the save fails, the app shows “Could not save visibility” — then check your connection. Visibility also affects Exploring together (lobbies).
About the app#
App version and updates. Three rows — the app reads the first two, the third one does something.
App version#
The version number and the build number (e.g. 0.120.1 (265)). You see the same number in the documentation in the footer of every page — if they differ, you have an older app.
Check for updates#
Asks our server for the newest version and says one of two things: You have the newest version (number) or Version number available. It downloads nothing without your decision.
Download and install#
Downloads the new version (you can see the progress: “Downloading… 42%”) and starts the installation. The system may ask for consent to install apps from this source — without it you will see the message “Allow Fyndi to install apps”. The whole procedure, including the manual variant, is in App updates.
About the device#
Four rows to read — they come in handy when you report a problem, because exactly this data goes into the bug report (Reports and bug reports). This entry asks for no permission.
Phone#
The phone's manufacturer and model.
Android#
The Android version and its level (e.g. 14 (SDK 34)).
Screen density#
The pixel density in dpi — thanks to it the app knows how large the tiles and the text should be.
Resolution#
The screen size in physical pixels, e.g. 1080 × 2400 px.
The “Create account” row (guests only)#
When you play without an account, in the place of the Account & security entry stands the action row Create account with the subtitle “You are playing as a guest — create an account so you do not lose your progress”. Tapping it opens the same registration screen as on the Account, and your progress so far is assigned to the new account (Playing as a guest).
Documented for app version 0.120.1 (updated 2026-09-26).
Machine translation — the Polish version prevails.
