Frequently asked questions#

Short answers to what you ask most often: when something is not working, when you have no internet and when you wonder what other players see. Every answer leads to a page that describes the topic step by step.

When something is not working#

Why can't I see stops or finds on the map?#

All three reasons are normal: route stops show up only after you pick a route (by default the map has only the start marker), from a distance finds are flat badges rather than solids, and outside Warsaw there is no content yet. What to start with is described in Main map, and the markers are told apart by Map legend.

Map during a tour: the “Wisła i Powiśle” route line and the route card with the Navigate button and the 1/5 stop counter
The map while exploring: the route line (here Wisła i Powiśle) and the route card with the Navigate button. When you stand at the start point, Start route appears in its place; during a tour the panel shows the stop counter and the chip Exploring: … sits at the top.

The app is not catching the position — what should I do?#

Look at the GPS pill in the top left corner of the map: GPS ±120 m means the position is weak, GPS No access — that the location permission is missing, and GPS off — that location is switched off on the phone. Step out into an open space and tap the pill to retry the fix; all the states and steps one by one are on the GPS and location accuracy page.

I am standing at a stop and the stop is not completing#

Completing is counted by the server and needs a fresh position from GPS — from a courtyard-well or from a position a few minutes old the stop will not complete. Come closer (the card shows the distance, e.g. Come closer (~120 m)), wait a few seconds without moving and try again: Route stops.

AR does not start — there is no “Open AR” button#

The AR view needs ARCore support on the phone and permission for the camera; without it you will see the text AR isn't available on this device instead of the button. You can check and turn on the permission in Settings, and the view itself — including what to expect from it — is described in AR view.

The app closed by itself or showed an error#

The app then saves a bug report on the phone and sends it on its own at the next start, when you are logged in — you do not have to do anything. Where to find the report, what is in it and how to copy it when there is no internet: Reports and bug reports.

Routes, finds and offline#

What is the difference between a find and a route stop?#

A route stop belongs to a specific route and is completed in the order you walk it, while a find lies on the map permanently and you collect it once, regardless of routes. Both terms are explained in the Glossary, and the differences in how the markers look — in Map legend.

How big is the offline pack and what is inside?#

The pack is a set of files with the city data — routes, stops and finds, without map tiles. Its size and version number are shown on the Offline pack screen, but that screen belongs to the Admin section of Account today: only an administrator account downloads content onto the phone, and a regular account has no other place or setting in the app that would do it. What still works without a network, and what does not exist, is described in Offline mode.

Where will my progress go when I have no internet?#

Actions taken without a network (starting a route, completing a stop, collecting a find) are saved on the phone first and wait in the queue — when something really is waiting, the row Pending sync: … actions and the Sync now button appear in Account. The condition: the app needs the route content on the phone (the pack) to count an action locally; without it you complete nothing offline. The queue is sent on its own once the network is back — the details and the exceptions are gathered in Offline mode.

Can I tour outside Warsaw?#

Today the content — routes, stops, finds and bots — is prepared for Warsaw, and outside the borders of Poland you see a greyed-out map background. More cities are a topic for future releases; what is available now is shown in Main map.

Account, other players and rules#

Do I need an account to play?#

No — the login screen has a Continue as guest button and the map, routes, stops, finds and the character creator work right away. Just remember that every exit from the app wipes the guest data (Playing without an account).

Will my progress stay when I change my phone?#

Yes — progress is kept by the account, not by the phone: after you log in, completed routes, completed stops, collected finds and kilometres run come back. The exception is a guest, whose data is temporary (Account and profile).

Who can see my character and name?#

You decide that in Settings with the Show me to others switch: when it is on you see players within 3 km and they see you, when it is off nobody sees anybody and your position is deleted right away. The name and tag are your business card in the game — you set them in the character creator.

I forgot my password — how do I change it?#

There is no self-service password reset yet, so you can only set a new password if you know the current one: Settings → Account & security → Change password. Describe the case in a report — the channels and what we never ask for are collected on the Reports and bug reports page.

What happens if I use an app to change my location?#

The app will notice that the position does not come from this phone's GPS and will pause your touring: you will not start a route, complete a stop or collect a find. The first break lasts 5 minutes, the second 10, and the third blocks the account — the full description and how to have the break lifted are on the Reports and bug reports page.
